Katy, a first-generation Taidam & Lao immigrant born and raised in Des Moines, IA, discovered her passion for cosmetology early on, inspired by a personal experience with an unfortunate haircut. Graduating from PCI Academy in early 2007.
Driven by her understanding of diversity and culture, Katy ventured into business ownership in 2015. Alongside her entrepreneurial pursuits, she found fulfillment working at Edgewater Wesley Life Community, where she discovered her passion for helping others.
Specializing in nail art, Katy became an OPI Salon Ambassador and in salon trainer in 2013, expanding her expertise to include hair extensions, spray tanning, lash extensions, lash lifts, henna eyebrows, wigs, toppers, and long hair bonding. Her journey as a Lash Artist, mentored by the owners of Lash Savvy, spans a decade.
Committing to continuous education, Katy actively participates in workshops, hair shows, online training, and is apart of various hair loss communities. Her dedication to staying updated with the latest trends and techniques underscores her commitment to providing exceptional service to her clients.
Under the mentorship of Jack Morlan, renowned as the Hair Doctor, Katy deepened her knowledge in hair loss and alternative hair solutions, further enriching her skill set. Taylor began her work in the industry as a theatre artist, working "behind the curtain," but now spends her days "behind the chair" as a full-time stylist. Since 2015 she has pursued knowledge in wigs and hair pieces, learning as much as possible so that a variety of solutions can be offered to her clients. Taylor specialties include scalp therapy treatments, alternative solutions for hair loss, and she is master certified in six different extension methods. Her most popular methods are i-tips, keratin bonded, and wefted extensions; hand-tied, machine sewn, and hybrid. Education and adcancement of her craft is her top priority. To date, she has completed the Surface Mastery Cutting class three times and has visited four states for technique exposure. You can count on Taylor as your stylist to actively listen to your hair concerns and follow through to provide a wonderful service with up-to-date information on hair healthy products and techniques.

Jack understands the emotional and physical toll cancer takes on individuals and offers personalized solutions to help them cope. He goes beyond traditional hairstyling by offering customized wig fittings and providing care tips. Jack creates a nurturing environment, actively listening to his clients and making every appointment an empowering experience. His commitment and understanding have made him a beloved figure in his profession, positively impacting countless lives.
Jack's involvement in various committees and boards, like the Iowa Board of Cosmetology, showcases his commitment to professional development and ensuring industry standards are met. Additionally, his contributions to the cancer community demonstrate his valuable expertise and dedication to supporting those affected by the disease. Through his service and provision of crucial information about the cancer process, Jack is making a significant impact in this field.
Jack has recently retired this year 2024 and will occasionally make a pop up to the salon when help is needed.
